Our mission
No diagnosis required. No subscription treadmill. No personality transplant. Just small, honest tools that meet loud minds where they actually are.
Why we exist
Most calm products make you qualify first. Get the diagnosis, learn the vocabulary, commit to the 60-day program, become the kind of person who has a morning routine. If you can’t — and on the hard weeks, nobody can — the failure gets handed back to you.
We think that’s backwards. The people who most need calm are precisely the people with the least spare capacity to earn it. So everything Calm State Co makes is built to work on your worst day, not your best one: tools you can pick up at 2am with no instructions, no streaks to maintain, and no one keeping score.
Built for your worst day, not your best one.
We lead with feelings instead of labels because feelings are where everyone actually lives. You don’t need a diagnosis to deserve relief — and you don’t lose yours by having one. Whoever you are, however your brain is wired, if it’s loud in there: you qualify. That’s the whole door policy.
What we believe
one
Our products speak to “the brain that won’t stop,” not to diagnoses. Recognition before categorization — because being seen helps, and being sorted rarely does.
two
Needing help to feel calm is a response to a loud world, not a flaw in you. Every product, page, and email ends without a guilt trip. If something we make ever makes you feel worse, we built it wrong.
three
The methods inside our books are grounded in published research — citations included — but written like a friend who gets it, not a clinician with a clipboard.
four
Books you own. Downloads that don’t expire. A free kit that’s actually free. Calm shouldn’t have a monthly fee attached to it.
Chris — founder, Calm State Co
About the founder
Hi — I’m Chris. Calm State Co exists because my own brain runs loud: the 2am spirals, the forty open tabs, the years of wondering why “just relax” was a language I couldn’t speak. I went looking for tools that didn’t lecture me, didn’t diagnose me from across the room, and didn’t cost a subscription I’d feel guilty about canceling. Mostly, they didn’t exist. So my husband and I started making them.
I build everything here the way I wish someone had built it for me on my worst nights: feeling-led, shame-free, and honest about what it can and can’t do. The methods are researched and cited — I read the studies so you don’t have to — but the voice is mine, and it’s the voice of someone who actually lives this, not someone studying it from a safe distance.
We’re a tiny company, on purpose. Australian-registered, two people and a very understanding kettle. Everything on this site is something we’ve used ourselves and kept. If it’s here, it earned its place.
